Eco Association Newsletter: December 2024
Welcome to the Eco Association’s monthly newsletter. We cover developments in the Eco Protocol and the broader community.
Let’s get to it.
Eco Routes is live in beta
Routes, the Eco Protocol’s permissionless, cross-chain liquidity layer for streamlining onchain UX, launched on December 11th.
Read the launch announcement here.
Eco Routes allows developers to source liquidity with the flexibility to configure and choose what makes the most sense for their app regarding speed, cost, and trust neutrality — and is live across four Ethereum Layer 2s: Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Mantle.
At initial launch, Eco Routes includes Native and Hyperlane routes:
The Native Route uses Cross-L2 Actions, Eco Inc’s solution to support RIP-7755 — enabling cross-chain asset transfers without adding trust assumptions
The Hyperlane Route, which reduces settlement cost and increases speed, uses Hyperlane’s message passing
…with more options to come in time.
If you’re a developer building on Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, or Mantle and want to source stablecoin liquidity from any connected chain, head to eco.com to learn more.
Protocol Governance ⚖️
As described in last month’s update, protocol governance is currently paused. The Security Council was instantiated this past month, and the migration to a Snapshot-based governance system outlined in this forum post is now underway.
